ICHO

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION HUB IN OSAKA UNIVERSITY

Overview

ICHO is a foundational software platform that utilizes various services from Microsoft’s cloud service “Microsoft 365” for information sharing among faculty and staff members.

ICHO provides various services, including many representative services such as email services, viewing and distribution of internal notifications from the Administrative Bureau and various department offices via bulletin boards, and file sharing through document management.

*Note: From Monday, May 8, 2023, when signing in to ICHO using Microsoft Authenticator, you may see a screen like the one shown below. In this case, enter the number displayed on the “Are you trying to sign in?” screen in Microsoft Authenticator and tap “Yes.”

Email Address Format

ICHO email addresses are as follows. The domain (after @) differs for administrative staff and faculty:

Administrative Staff: (surname in Roman letters)-(first initial in Roman letters)@office.osaka-u.ac.jp
Faculty: (surname in Roman letters).(given name in Roman letters).(random alphanumeric or department abbreviation)@osaka-u.ac.jp

How to Change Email Address

Administrative staff cannot change their email addresses by themselves.

Faculty members can change their email addresses through the “Password/User Information Change” menu in the University-wide IT Authentication Infrastructure Service.

*When changing your email address, please refer to the “ICHO Email Address Naming Guidelines” on the change screen.

Forgotten Password

If you forget your password, you need to follow the password reissue procedure for your Personal ID issued by the University of Osaka.

MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) Reset

If you need to reset MFA due to smartphone replacement etc., please contact the inquiry desk below.
Please note that identity verification will be conducted over the phone, so the call must be made by the actual person.

Email Auto-Forwarding Service after Retirement

本This service automatically forwards emails received by ICHO to a specified email address for a certain period after retirement to support the continuity of educational, research, and operational activities at the university. Those who wish to use this service should apply through the application page below.

For Professors Emeriti

We are now providing ICHO email services to Professors Emeriti at the University of Osaka.
Future Professors Emeriti at the University of Osaka can continue to use their ICHO email and Personal ID after retirement.

*Please ensure your mailbox size is less than 50GB before retirement. Email sending and receiving will not be possible if it exceeds 50GB.
You can check your mailbox usage here.

For existing Professors Emeriti who do not have ICHO email and wish to use it, please consult with the general affairs office of your former department.

You can use your ICHO email address in either of the following ways:

Important Notes

  • The university will conduct an annual confirmation of email forwarding continuation. Your account may be suspended if continuation cannot be confirmed, so please be sure to respond.
  • Please note that the university cannot be responsible for email reception status at forwarding destinations.
  • If you are re-employed by the university in another position before the forwarding period ends, automatic forwarding will end at that time. If you wish to resume automatic forwarding after your re-employment period ends, please apply again.
