About the D3 Center
“D3” is an abbreviation representing the three objectives of the D3 Center’s establishment: “Digital design” (digitizing and making information usable), “Datability” (analyzing and making vast amounts of advanced data accessible), and “Decision intelligence” (supporting various decision-making processes).
The D3 Center is structured around three main mission cores (Data Generation and Collection, Data Analysis, and Data Utilization), with six sub-cores positioned under them. Additionally, a Data-Driven Core General Coordinator is positioned at the center of these three mission cores to oversee their activities.
Mission Core
Promotes social implementation through data generation and conducts data collection.
Promotes research DX and creates new academic principles through data analysis and research application.
Promotes education DX and business DX through data utilization.
Oversees the activities of the three cores and manages the development of service provision both within and outside the university.
Objectives
The D3 Center aims to support the University of Osaka in becoming a data-driven university by conducting fundamental research and education while assisting in administration and management. As university-wide support, it aims to accelerate the development of the university’s information infrastructure, promotion of informatization, advancement of information services, and innovative educational activities utilizing these resources.
With the D3 Center as its core, the University of Osaka will connect various internal organizations to advance the development of academic principles, research promotion, human resource development, and infrastructure development to solve social issues through the utilization of data collected through open science initiatives. Through these efforts, we will lead the transformation into a “data-driven university” that implements data-driven activities across all areas of education, research, and management at our university.
